Millions of people travel to the Grand Canyon each year. The canyon was designated a National Park about one hundred years ago, and people have been flocking to it ever since. This size of the gorge is astonishing since it is about a mile deep, eighteen miles wide and 277 miles long. The sight is almost too beautiful for words. Plus, you will find many activities to explore while at the Grand Canyon.
Alternatively, if you'd rather be outside, volunteer at a local park or National Trust area, there's always lots to do that will get your blood pumping and ready to drop at the end of the day.
This may sound a little too similar to number one, but it can provide distinct advantages if you approach it with a different mind set. If you can find a park with a good play set, your toddler is going to have a great time. Some fun activities with toddlers are quite tiring, but one of the main perks to this versus going to the beach or football field is that you can usually find a relaxing bench in the shade and watch your child burn his energy without having to strap on your running shoes.
You can also try to see what their strengths and weaknesses are by having an art activity. You can try creating figures using clay or sticks. Add some humor while explaining to your kid how to create clay figures. Do NOT set any rules as to how big the figure should be or how should it look. It will suppress any excitement they have because there are some rules. Kids do not like too many rules.
Eat Exotic And New Cuisines: This is a very easy and fun family activity which you can do during the weekend. You can drive your spouse and your kids to a new exotic fun hobbies restaurant and try their cuisines. In doing so, you will not only be able to spend time with your loved ones, but you can also introduce them to new culture. It is advisable to bring your family to a restaurant early- preferably before the evening rush. This way, your family can appreciate and enjoy the atmosphere.
The West Rim offers excitement and adventure. While there, you can take a walk on the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a glass bridge suspended high above the canyon floor. Other points of interest include Hualapai Ranch and the interesting Indian Cultural Center. The West Rim is also the only place where you can take a thrilling helicopter ride down the sides of the canyon to the floor below. While there, you can take a float trip down the Colorado River.
Staying busy does not have to mean filling up every hour with structured activities. Camping needs to include downtime for everyone and that, in and of itself, creates spontaneity. Have some thought put into this type of time so when the time is right your family can enjoy activities they have not thought of or done before. This is what creates memories.
